Animal Rights Group Claims U of A Cited for Harming Animals

News

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — An animal rights watchdog group says the University of Arkansas has been cited for violating the animal welfare act.

Stop Animal Exploitation Now representatives say that multiple U of A inspection reports show the university was responsible for burning nine animals resulting in the death of one of them.

A university representative said the issues were primarily the result of a malfunctioning heating pad.

“The university is committed to the humane and ethical treatment of animals and will continue working to improve our process moving forward,” a university statement said.

The U of A has not confirmed it’s been fined.
