Families in Washington County gathered on Saturday for Apple Seeds’ 5th Annual Picnic on the Farm.
Surrounded by local music and food, attendees could do yoga, play one-of-a-kind farm games, and cook food in the Apple Seeds kitchen.
The event raised money for the non-profit’s educational programs, including farm-to-table cooking classes, cooking in the schools, and school garden workshops.
“For a lot of students that we work with, they don’t have a chance to see where food comes from, so it’s a real awakening for a lot of them about how they can eat differently,” said Kyra Ramsey, co-director of Apple Seeds.
Ramsey added that the farm has a production garden, which is about half an acre of produce grown and harvested by the children.
