The Natural State was ranked the fifth least energy-efficient state in the country on Tuesday, according to a new study from WalletHub.

October is known as National Energy Awareness Month.

The average American household spends at least $2,000 per year on utilities and another $1,968 on motor fuel and oil, this is up $59 from 2017, according to WalletHub.

“WalletHub compared the auto and home energy efficiency in 48 U.S. states,” the news release states.

States like Alaska and Hawaii were excluded from the study.
