Female artists are the focus of a new exhibit at the Arts Center of the Ozarks.

“Arkansas Women to Watch” features work by four different artists, including a piece by artist, and Clarksville native, Dawn Holder.

It’s titled “Once Upon a Time in the Forest of I’m Not Sweet Enough,” and is made of delicate materials like porcelain and sugar. Holder says its meant to symbolize the expectation for women to be sweet and fragile.

She says opportunities like this show are important for women artists everywhere.

“I think one thing I wanna say to young female artists is to really believe in yourself and keep working and keep trying and even if the establishment gets you down, don’t stop,” she said.

Holder’s piece was one of four chosen to represent the Natural State in this statewide tour. You can check out the “women to watch” exhibit now through July 28.
