Thousands of Arkansans have failed to report work requirements for Arkansas Works Health Care coverage.
Monday marked the second round of Arkansas Works coverage terminations resulting from the lack of work requirements reported since they took effect in June.
More than 4,500 enrollees initially lost coverage in the first round of terminations on September 1.
Enrollees who fail to report their monthly work hour requirements for three months in a row lose their coverage and are barred from re-enrolling for the rest of the year.
For many, Friday at 9 p.m. was another deadline to report their hours to have their health coverage restored. Amy Webb with the Arkansas Department of Human Services says people can report their work status in multiple ways.
“They can report it themselves or they can call their insurance carrier and they will report it for them.
Thats important because if they get three months of non compliance in a calender year then they will lose coverage in that year,” Webb said.
Webb also says she hopes people take advantage of all the services offered from DHS to help people move forward.
In June, Arkansas became the first state to impose a work requirement on some of its Medicaid recipients.
