LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KFTA) — The Arkansas Department of Transportation wants to remind drivers to know before you go when traveling this holiday weekend.
Highway improvements continue throughout the state and there will be plenty of work zones to watch out for.
To aid in your holiday travel, ArDoT has worked hard to open as many lanes as possible.
Even still, travelers will likely face work zones and possible delays due to increased traffic volume.
To help motorists find ways around accidents and work zone backups on interstates, ArDoT has an alternate routes feature on idrivearkansas.com.
“Wednesday afternoon, Wednesday evening, we anticipate volumes to really ratchet up there out on the interstates and then Sunday after Thanksgiving is always, always a busy travel day in Arkansas,” said Danny Straessle, public information officer for ArDoT.
AAA predicts more than 54 million Americans nearly five percent more than last year will travel a distance greater than 50 miles from home this holiday weekend.
