Some Northwest Arkansas law enforcement agencies are offering a helping hand to Sebastian County deputies.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will send 13 people down to help run the Sebastian County Detention Center Tuesday, so those employees can attend Corporal Bill Cooper’s funeral.  Cooper was killed last Wednesday when deputies say Billy Jones opened fire on law enforcement during a standoff at his home.

Benton and Crawford Counties are also sending deputies to work in the jail.  Washington County Chief Deputy Jay Cantrell says they’re all one big family, and want to help take care of each other.

“We feel like one of our brothers was killed so we want to do whatever we can to honor his memory and if going down there and working at the jail offers their people a chance to get to the funeral service then we’re more than happy to go down and do that,” Cantrell said.

Other agencies will send deputies to help out in the patrol and dispatch divisions as well Tuesday.
