In honor of Black History Month, Crystal Bridges and the Links of Northwest Arkansas hosted a free screening of Aretha Franklin’s exclusive 1972 recording of “Amazing Grace.”
The film has premiered in several cities, and documents Franklin’s two-night stand at Los Angeles’ New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in 1972. The award winning live performance is regarded as Franklin’s crowning achievement and became the best selling album of her career.
“I want this film to touch audiences in a special way. It’s a special kind of film. We’ve worked on tons of films, nd so last night when we showed the film. The audience was so emotional. They were singing along and clapping,” said Tirrell Whittley, producer of “Amazing Grace.”
The event takes place this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
