(KARK) LONOKE, Ark. – The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is searching for a local mother and her 1-year-old daughter reported missing amid a custody battle.

The LCSO says it received a report on May 31 on the missing child, identified as Indiana Tarter. Her mother is identified as Heather Tarter, 42.

On May 1, the Circuit Court of Lonoke County Domestic Relations Division filed an Order granting custody of the girl to her biological father. He has since been unable to find his daughter or her mother, deputies say.

The LCSO has entered the child into the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) as missing and is asking for the public’s help.

The little girl is described as about two feet tall and 20 pounds. Her mother has been known to frequent and has family in the Carlisle area. She may be driving a 2007 white Chevrolet TrailBlazer with Arkansas license plate 111 SPS.

There are no criminal charges pending but anyone found to be helping hide the child could face criminal charges, the Sheriff’s Office says.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LCSO at (501) 676-3000, Lt. Matt Edwards at (501) 743-8459 or email a tip to
