Arkansas Children’s Northwest Conducts Tornado Drill

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KFTA) — Tornado exercises were held Thursday at Arkansas Children’s Northwest.

The drill was in partnership with the Springdale Fire Department, Willow Creek Women’s Hospital and the Springdale High School Medical Academy.

The exercises involved moving 20 mock patients to various locations inside the hospital.

“Hospitals are unique, patients each are unique, and there needs to be clinical consideration with each child as to how and where they can be moved to,” said Keith Veit, director of Emergency Services, Arkansas Children’s Northwest.

Veit said students from the Springdale High School Medical Academy volunteered as mock patients for the exercise.
