In Springdale on Sunday, the community got the chance to listen to democratic candidates on their platforms for the November election.
Candidates for Governor, U.S. Congress and Arkansas House of Representatives were at “Mi Mexico Restaurant” speaking to voters face to face and getting to know the constituents they could be representing.
While in Springdale, KNWA caught up with a candidate for U.S. Congress, Josh Mahony, about immigration.
Mahony is running against incumbent Republican Steve Womack for the 3rd Congressional District seat in Washington.
“A big priority for us is, of course, making sure that our neighbors here community that have DACA and TPS have a pathway to citizenship, ” Mahony said.
KNWA also spoke to Womack on his stance on immigration.
“I support the President in his quest to send a very strong message that this country, a nation of laws is going to defend its borders and that we have a process, ” Womack said.
Womack has been representing Arkansas District 3 in the house since 2011.
House seats are up for election every two years.
