A new facility is expanding Arkansas Game and Fish into Washington County.
The new 61-acre site looks to make the outdoors more accessible to Northwest Arkansans. Right now the closest nature center to Northwest Arkansas that’s operated by Arkansas Game and Fish is in Fort Smith, but that’s about to change.
It will be located on North 40th street in Springdale. It’s just South of Wagon Wheel Road and East of I-49.
Plans for the new 36-thousand square foot facility include an amphitheater and covered pavilions, indoor and outdoor classrooms, wildlife habitat areas, and indoor and outdoor archery ranges. The total project is expected to cost about 18-million dollars – most of which is coming from private donations. However money is still being raised to create the facility.
The groundbreaking takes place November 2nd at 3:00 P.M.
