A forum discussing Arkansas ballot Issue 1 was held at Northwest Arkansas Community College Tuesday evening.
The forum was supposed to be a debate. However only one side of the issue, those against it, showed up.
Nearly a dozen people showed up to the forum to learn more about the item that, if the Arkansas Supreme Court allows to go to a vote, would amend the state constitution. Issue addresses a number of items, including how much can be collected in damages from lawsuits.
“It [also] involves attorney fees and it also involves the rule making power that vests in either the Arkansas Supreme Court or in the Legislature,” University of Arkansas Law School professor Howard Brill explained.
Brill served as moderator of the discussion which featured three panelists opposed to Issue 1.
