It’s National Work Zone Awareness Day, and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) is encouraging you to be patient and take your time.

On Monday, April 9, signs were unveiled to launch the ‘Slow Down. Move Over. Work With Us’ campaign.

This year’s national theme is, “Drive Like You Work Here,” according to ARDot.

“We encourage our citizens to slow down and make sure as we prepare for the day that we are also patient in the process and we’ll be safe as possible,” Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr., said.

The department said it’s important to stay off your phone while driving, especially in work zones.

Twenty-two people have been killed at construction sites since 1972, according to ARDoT.
