Arrest Made in Missouri for Crimes Committed in Eureka Springs

United States Marshalls found and arrested a man in Missouri for randomly firing a gun at buildings within Eureka Springs city limits, according to the Eureka Springs Police Department.

Jonathan Townsend, 26, was arrested Wednesday, February 6, by Marshalls in St. Louis, Missouri.

On January 26, at 2:38 a.m., witnesses contacted Eureka Springs police about seeing a man shooting at buildings in the downtown area.  Police arrived and found plenty of shell casings on the area of Mountain and Center Streets.

Witnesses identified the suspect to police who they later identified as Jonathan Townsend, and a warrant was issued.

He was arrested on a total of 12 charges:  five counts aggravated assault, five counts terroristic act, criminal mischief and discharging a firearm in the city limits, according to the release.

Townsend is being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center on no bond.  His court hearing is scheduled for Friday, February 8, and he’s expected to be extradited to Arkansas, according to a court clerk at the Justice Center.
