Arkansas ranks second among the most food-insecure states in the nation, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.
But now you have the chance to help fight food-insecurity in our area.
Arvest Bank’s Million Meals initiative is hoping to change that by challenging community members to help provide at least one million meals to local, hungry families in our area.
It’s the volunteers and donations from our community that help make such a big impact, especially for nonprofit organizations like Life Source in Fayetteville.
“It made a tremendous difference to have that extra food in the household to feed my family,” said Patricia Dobbins, volunteer for Life Source.
“They have a great campaign called the Million Meals… and that enables us to have more food in the pantry, to be able to help more people,” said Jimmie Conduff, Life Source executive director. “Right now, we see approximately 1,200 families a month for food alone.”
You can drop off nonperishable food items or make monetary donations at any Arvest location.
Every dollar raised through Million Meals provides the equivalent of five meals for those in need.
