Attempted Murder Suspect Declared Fit to Stand Trial

News

A judge in Benton County has ruled a convicted killer is fit to stand trial for attempted murder and other felony charges.

Justin Trammel pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of attempted murder, domestic battery, endangering the welfare of a minor and driving while intoxicated.

Police say Trammel wrecked a pickup truck in July 2018 while driving with two girls in the bed.

Trammel was committed to Arkansas’ mental health system in August after multiple suicide attempts at the Benton County Detention Center.

The ruling was made after a mental evaluation, and trial is set to begin Feb. 26.

Trammel previously pleaded guilty to killing his father with a crossbow in June 2000 in Benton County.
