Authorities Release Names of Suspect and Victim in Deadly Van Buren Shooting

One man is dead following a shooting in Van Buren on Tuesday (Oct. 2), according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the deadly shooting happened on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. outside the Highway 64 Truck and Trailer Repair shop along 5200 Alma Highway in Van Buren.

Deputies said Christina McKee shot and killed her boyfriend Shawn Sewell outside the shop where he worked. When deputies got to the scene they said they found Sewell dead.

McKee fled the scene, but was arrested by officers with the Van Buren Police Department a short time later, deputies said.

Deputies said McKee and Sewell had a long history of fighting. 

McKee is now being held at the Crawford County Detention Center on suspicion of capital murder.
