BELLA VISTA, Ark. (KNWA) — The Bella Vista Fire Department is one step closer to building a new training facility and lowering community members’ insurance rates.
The Bella Vista City Council voted to lease a piece of land the build the facility.
The land at the intersection Chelsea Road and Tudor Drive will have a live-fire training building, driving course, classroom and restrooms.
Division Chief of Training Scott Cranford said its to protect the lives of residents and firefighters themselves.
“We need to make sure that we’re honing basic skills and everyday things, so that the fire fighters have the basic knowledge and skills they can revert to if they themselves encounter a problem while they’re fighting fire,” Cranford said.
The new facility would also improve the city’s ISO rating.
That means firefighters can respond more quickly and effectively making it easier to ensure homes and businesses.
