Bella Vista Residents React to ‘Stump Dump’ Situation, Ahead of Governor’s Visit

News

Ahead of the Governor’s visit Friday, December 28, KNWA spoke to several people who live near the Trafalgar Road fire.

They said they’re happy to see the governor pay attention to the issue, but hope something is done sooner than later to resolve it.

On Friday afternoon, Womack and Hutchinson were at the Bella Vista Fire Department where their first stop, along with other officials, was to tour the site of where the fire is burning — Trafalgar Road.

Afterward both men addressed the public and the media about the situation after they toured the area.

“This  is really validation that someone up high at the state level is acknowledging what we are doing, I look at that as a positive step,” said local Chris Nelson.

Congressman Steve Womack was at the meeting and said, “what was a quality of life issue … is now a life issue.”

On Thursday, Dec. 27,  Ensafe, the state-appointed engineering firm that’s been hired to create a plan on how to stop the underground fire, walked the entire site.
