The city of Bella Vista is set to open a new street department facility.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 12 at 10:00 at 2471 Forest Hills Blvd., across from the Boys and Girls Club just south of Rogers Road.
Tours of the facility will be available, as this is the first ever brand new city building constructed.
The City of Bella Vista took over street maintenance from the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association starting in 2012. Since then, trucks and equipment have been housed off Pinion Valley Drive, where the staff operated out of a trailer office.
The department had a staff of 12 at the time the city took over, with a fleet of eight vehicles and equipment. Today, the department operates with 22 full-time employees and four seasonal employees, and a fleet of 48 vehicles and various heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, an excavator, bulldozer, and other equipment necessary to maintain city streets and rights-of-way.
