BELLA VISTA, Ark. (KFTA) — A new medical priority dispatch system will be implemented in Bella Vista this month.
The system, called ProQA, will bring the city up to national standards.
It helps first responders rank the urgency of calls to determine what equipment and personnel to use when on the job.
The new rankings will increase the safety of both responders and community members.
“We’re gonna reserve the lights and sirens for only the most time sensitive calls,” said Scott Larson, paramedic for the Bella Vista Fire Department. “We’re still gonna handle your emergency as an emergency, it’s just how we get there.”
The new system is expected to go online on Aug. 20.
The Bella Vista fire and police departments will split the cost of the upgrade.
