Those with loved ones in the Benton County Jail can now visit them online from their home.
The jail’s new video visitation system allows family and friends of inmates to visit them digitally for 15 minutes at a time.
Remote visits will be available seven days a week and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
Sgt. Shannon Jenkins, with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, said this will save the department more than just time and money.
“Anytime you have movement there’s always a safety concern at some point so this will help with the safety of the facility absolutely,” Sgt. Jenkins said.
The jail had plans to implement the new video visitation system on September 1 but were able to obtain the necessary equipment to get the system up and running now.
