With the cold weather moving in, Benton county is starting to get prepared.
Although the Benton County Road Department has not treated the roads just yet, the trucks were loaded Friday morning with salt and sand.
Employees are on standby as the weather is monitored.
“This week of course we’ve been on alert for any kind of winter weather that could possibly hit this weekend. Benton County is constantly preparing, whether it be monitoring the weather with our emergency management team and just making sure its either changing. Arkansas weather, you never know is it up or down,” said Channing Barker, Benton County communications director.
Benton County road crews will not be pre-treating because the forecasted rain would wash away the salt and sand, but those plans could change as we get closer to Saturday.
