BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) — With the possibility of freezing rain and snow in the forecast, Benton County road crews started pre-treating roads earlier this week.

Administrator of Public Services for the Benton County Road Department Jay Frasier said they use the same treatment plan anytime there is a possibility of slick weather.

“As the storm approaches, we go in,” Frasier said. “We put the salt beds in, we put the snow plows on, make sure all of our equipment’s running right. Then we’ll use our brine for pre-treat and magnesium chloride on the bridges and overpasses.”

Frasier said if you absolutely have to drive in inclement weather, be prepared.

Make sure you have a kit filled with water, blankets and a full tank of gas in your vehicle.
