The Benton County Sheriff’s Office hosted a parents night out at Northwest Arkansas Community College on Thursday for National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
The Cyber Crimes division gave parents helpful tips on how to spot some of the dangers children face online.
Detective Olin Rankin says parents are thankful for the event.
“Usually we get a very positive response, lots of people are very appreciative of it and they, they come in thinking they think it’s going to be kind of a silly thing, but they take the time to educate themselves and they find out a lot of the things they’re not doing that they realize they could do,” Rankin said.
National Cyber Security Awareness Month is observed every October.
It was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safe and secure online.
