Bentonville Community Members Gather to Support New Animal Shelter

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — Dozens showed up at the Bentonville Community Center in hopes of getting an animal shelter in their city.

The Bentonville Animal Shelter Task Force held a  public meeting for community input.

Bentonville currently sends all the animals to Centerton and pay the city to house them in its shelter.

Many took the podium Thursday to express why they think their city needs a place for local animals to go.

“It’s important from the veterinarian side. We need it. We have people that don’t know where to go and need the education and the help and the resources that a shelter can provide,” said Ashley Brown, Bentonville homeowner.

No word on when the task force will move forward with plans for the shelter.
