FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Bentonville West High School will get nearly $2 million in additional funds for its football stadium, officials say.
The Bentonville School Board voted 5-2 on Monday evening to allocate the funds, a spokeswoman for the district confirmed.
She said the stadium project is already 70 percent complete, and the additional funds will mostly go toward seating. The athletic department wanted to finish the seating so home games could be played at the stadium, according to the spokeswoman.
The vote went as follows:
- Travis Riggs – Yes
- Willie Cowgur – Yes
- Joe Quinn – No
- Brent Leas – Yes
- Eric White – Yes
- Matthew Burgess – No
- Rebecca Powers – Yes
The entire Bentonville West High School construction site was budgeted $86 million, the spokeswoman said. That included four grades and all facilities associated with the new high school.
Every other athletic facility at Bentonville West High School is completed with the stadium remaining the only unfinished project, officials said.
The athletic department will work to get any remaining funds needed for the stadium paid for with private gifts, according to the spokeswoman.
