Bethany, Mo., Man Drowned in Mulberry River

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) — One person is dead after a canoe overturned on the Mulberry River, Thursday.

Police say the call came in around 2:45 p.m. for a canoe accident involving three people near the Cass Water intake part of the Mulberry River. 

Two of the people were able to swim to safety, according to police. 

The victim is identified as a 48-year-old male from Bethany, Mo. He was wearing a life jacket but it was not zipped all the way up. 

No foul play is suspected and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
