Black History Month in Northwest Arkansas

News

February 1 marks the beginning of Black History Month which celebrates the lifetime achievements of African Americans in our country.

Compassion Fayetteville, a local nonprofit, started hosting Black History Month events in 2014. This was a way to promote diversity in northwest Arkansas.

“Diversity, inclusion and equity makes us stronger together,” said D’Andre Jones, director of the Compassionate Fayetteville Black History Month. “And as a community, it makes us more cohesive.”

These events are open to the public and give people the chance to ask questions about things they don’t understand.
