BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) — A boat began taking on water near the Prairie Creek Marina at Beaver Lake causing it to sink.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 56 reported that the boat beached on the rocks on the north side of the Prairie Creek no-wake zone.
The boat’s high angle caused the back of the boat to swamp and flood the boat.
The occupants secured the boat to a tree, preventing it from sinking fully.
A Prairie Creek Marina employee helped the occupants secure the boat to the shore.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary shuttled investigating officers from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to and from the accident scene and also maintained a safety perimeter.
