Bomb Squad Investigating Suspicious Package at Northside Elementary in Siloam Springs

UPDATE: 6:20 p.m. — The scene is now clear at NorthSide Elementary School after a suspicious device was found in the school’s parking lot. The Bentonville Bomb Squad was able to X-Ray the device and found nothing inside but a handwritten note. Officials are not releasing any details of the note, but say it was not a threat.

SILOAM SPRINGS, AR — According to Holland Hayden with the City of Siloam Springs, as approximately 3:47 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, a Siloam Springs Police School Resource Officer “became aware of a suspicious package in the parking lot of Northside Elementary School.” Hayden says the school had already been dismissed after the package was found.

A two block perimeter was established and residents in surrounding homes were evacuated. The Bentonville Bomb Squad arrived just after 5:00 p.m.
