Breaking Down The Iowa Caucus

In the United States, we elect delegates. Delegates then elect the nominee. Then nominees run for president.
That’s why Iowa is so important for those running for president. These hopefuls are reaching to get as many delegates as possible.
Monday night, Ted Cruz pulls away with 8 delegates, with Rubio and Trump walking away with 7 delegates. Republicans need 2,472 delegates to win. On the Democratic side, the candidate needs 4,763 delegates to pull out a win. Clinton pulling in 409 delegates. Sanders gets 34. And O’Malley receiving zero delegates. The hopefuls now move to New Hampshire where it’s promised to be another close call.
