An elderly man has died after a brush fire ignites on his property.

John Heenan, 79, was found deceased Monday evening while firefighters were battling an out-of-control brush fire in the area of Peace Valley Lane in Baxter County, Arkansas.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office says Heenan was found about 120 feet from where his vehicle was parked.

Evidence indicates that Heenan died as a result of the fire. A portion of his vehicle was also damaged by the fire.
