Candlelight Vigil Held for Children who have Died

News

People joined together around the world for a candle lighting service to honor and remember children who have died.

In Northwest Arkansas, people gathered at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

Anne Avery lost her granddaughter Cameron almost 12 years ago.

The church’s pastor Steve Sheely says this event is also a time for parents to find others who understand their grief, especially during the holiday season.

“People have so many fond memories of their children during this season and to be around other people who understand what you’re going through and to have this forum to talk about their children is just so meaningful and very helpful,” Sheely says.

Rolling Hills Baptist Church was just one of the hundreds of churches Sunday, honoring those children that have died.

Sheely says the church also offers monthly meetings for parents to get together and talk about their stories.
