FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — Local radio stations are giving you a chance to help families in the northwest Arkansas community.
During the 16th annual Canned Food Campout, five stations will camp out with the goal of filling a Mayflower truck that will benefit LifeSource, a local nonprofit that aims to help strengthen individuals, children and families by providing basic needs.
Jon Williams, longtime radio cohost of Radio Jon Deek and participant in the drive, said the cold should not deter anyone from coming out to donate.
“There are people in northwest Arkansas who we’re trying to help with the Canned Food Campout who don’t have a choice in being in the cold,” Williams said. “A lot of times, they don’t have shelter, their own homes. They’re homeless. So if they can live in these conditions for goodness knows how long, we can be out here for a few hours.”
Food can be dropped of starting Thursday, November 15 at 7:00 a.m. until Saturday November 17 at 5:00 p.m. at 3919 N. Mall Ave.
