When Carnival launched their first ship, 1972’s TSS Mardi Gras, they knew they were shaking things up.
Now 48 years later the name is making a come back.
In 2020 carnival will be launching a brand-new ship with a familiar name.
You guessed it: Mardi Gras.
According to Carnival’s website, this ship introduces “zones” — six themed areas packed with brand-new experiences for eating, drinking and spectacularly getting down to the fun.
More announcements are still to come, but the biggest one is the ship will have the first-ever rollercoaster at sea.
The two-billion-dollar ship will also include nods to New Orleans with a French Quarter and other familiar settings.
Reservations and itineraries will be announced and open for sale January, 30.
Everybody can take a cruise on Mardi Gras starting in 2020.
