The city of Fayetteville is looking at adjusting the fees on recycling.
The issue was discussed late into the night at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
A consulting group hired by Fayetteville, proposed an average of a 9 percent hike for recycling and trash services across all sectors (commercial, multi-family residences) and a rate of 5 percent for single-family households.
“Those are the issues that we’re looking at and asking our city council to evaluate a rate structure that incentivizes recycling and makes it more applicable to business to recycle,” Waste Reduction Coordinator Brian Pugh says.
The city is also looking to expand programs for food waste and recycling construction and demolition debris.
