City of Rogers Creates New Position to Help Volunteer Community

ROGERS, Ark. (KFTA)–The City of Rogers has created a new position to better serve its volunteer community.

After months of meetings, the volunteer coordinator can now actively assist the people of Rogers who want to lend a helping hand.

The new job is an extension of the front desk position at City Hall.
Now that mostly everything is online, the city has seen a decrease of people coming in, prompting it to change a somewhat stagnant position to something much more active in the community.
A change that new hire, Kim Redfield, said will make volunteering more accessible.
She said, “I think a lot of times people are intimidated to volunteer and if they don’t know what they want to do or where they can go, I think they won’t volunteer instead. So, I think that it’s important to have a person or a contact that they can reach out to.”
