City of Springdale Approves Raises for Employees and Council Members

News

The City of Springdale is raising wages for employees and council members.

The Springdale City Council voted 5-3, Tuesday, January 8, to approve $27 million in raises for the 2019 budget.

Three Council members — Mike Overton, Mike Lawson, and Cobly Fulfer — were the ‘no’ votes for the increases.

The reason for the raise is due to a salary survey that showed significant pay disparity between employees and elected officials in Springdale compared to neighboring cities.

Employee salaries will be raised by 8%.

Council members and Planning Commission members also received a $600 raise per year.
