Command Center Set Up in Mountainburg as Severe Weather Mounts


MOUNTAINBURG, Ark. (KNWA) — The Crawford County Department of Emergency Management is setting up a command center in Downtown Moutainburg.

Hazardous weather struck Mountainburg hard Friday evening, and the Department of Emergency Management has quickly responded with alerts and efforts to keep community members safe.

Radar confirmed a tornado caused damage in Mountainburg. That stretch hazardous weather has moved out of the area, but thunderstorms are approaching.

Mountainburg Public Schools’ bus barn sustained damage, the school superintendent said.

Emergency Management alerted people that people were trapped in their homes in Mountainburg and that people should not come into Mountainburg.
