Watch this video of the Beaver Bridge bending as a large bus passes over it on Saturday!
The bridge is located in Beaver, Ark. and was built in 1943, according to the Arkansas The Natural State website.
It is known as the “Golden Gate of the Ozarks.”
“This historic swinging bridge is the last one in Arkansas open to vehicular traffic and is referred to as “the bridge to nostalgia.” The structure was featured in the 2005 movie, “Elizabethtown,” the website states.
Danny Straessle, with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, said the bridge is rated for ten tons.
Straessle said the bridge is closed.
“It has been closed during the day because our maintenance crews were already out there working on it. So, they’re not there inspecting this bridge because of that video that circulated. They were already out there performing routine maintenance,” Straessle said.
The bridge opens at night and on the weekends.
