The construction of a new school is now underway.
Bentonville school officials along with Superintendent Dr. Debbie Jones held a groundbreaking for the fourth junior high school in the district on Wednesday.
Eric White, president of the Bentonville Board of Education, said the new building is important to the area.
“Most of our growth in the schools district is occurring in the west part of our district,” White said. “Traditionally, that’s been farmland so the architect calls this style agrarian, which reflects the farm and agricultural community that’s always been out here.”
The school is set to open in the fall of 2020 and will welcome around one thousand seventh and eighth graders.
