A controlled burn in Springdale did not go as planned.
Springdale firefighters responded to an out of control fire Tuesday afternoon at a home in the area of Cooper Drive and North Thompson Street.
Springdale Fire Chief Mike Irwin said at times control burns can get out of control because of factors such as weather conditions, the homeowner burning too much or a combination of both.
“When we get to the point to where they pile it up a little bigger than they should, the humidity’s low and the wind picks up a little bit,” Irwin said. “It can cause us some problems, which is what happened here.”
Irwin mentioned that because of low humidity and high winds projected, the fire department has already issued a burn ban for Wednesday.
