Corps opens spillway at Beaver Lake

Update: The Corps will increase the spillway gates opening to 2 feet on all seven gates by 5 p.m. 

The spillway release of 15,800 cubic feet per second combined with 3,800 c.f.s. released through one turbine generator will have a combined release of about 19,600 c.f.s. Currently one hydropower unit is off-line for repairs. 

Original story: The Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, opened the spillway gates at Beaver Lake at noon on Sunday. 

The seven gates were opened one foot by 1 p.m. 

The spillway release of 7,600 cubic feet per second combined with 3,800 c.f.s. released through one turbine generator with have a combined release of about 11,400 c.f.s. Currently one hydropower unit is off-line for repairs.
