In just the past few days there have been three locations for a town hall meeting with Senator Tom Cotton. Today, the Senator’s office released a statement that said the meeting will be at the Pat Walker Performing Arts Center in Springdale.
It was originally at the Jones Center, then moved to the Arend Arts Center but today was moved due to what the Congressman’s office and the school district said are security concerns.
Kimberly Benyr is one of the founding members of Ozarks Indivisible. The group worked to get a meeting with Senator Cotton.
“We’re really going to try and get everybody to the new location because we really do want this town hall to happen,” said Benyr. “We’re not trying to cause a disruption.”
With the change in locations, Benyr is worried some may show up to the wrong place or that the meeting simply won’t go as planned.
“I think attendance will go down because of all these last minute changes…It’s giving the impression that he isn’t respecting his constituents time. With all the changes we’re concerned, that it might not happen,” said Benyr.
However, in a statement sent to KNWA, Cotton encouraged “…As many Arkansans as possible to come to what should be an engaging and informative event.”
“We are looking forward to the town hall happening and we hope that he keeps his word and that we will be meeting at the Springdale location,” said Benyr.
