Crawford County Cities Receive New Tornado Sirens

News

It’s about to get a lot louder in Alma and Mountainburg, but it’s all for greater safety.

Both cities received brand new tornado sirens.

The sirens were installed by the Crawford County Department of Energy Management Tuesday.

The county is replacing 22 sirens in the county. So far 12 have been replaced since 2016.

These new sirens come almost a year after a tornado ripped through Mountainburg on April 13, 2018.

The National Weather Service confirmed it was an EF2 tornado with max winds of 110-120 miles per hour.
