FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Facebook users will be notified today if their data was collected by political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica.
A link will be posted on victim’s Facebook news feeds and will show what apps are linked to their accounts.
In released testimony ahead of his congressional hearings, Mark Zuckerberg takes full responsibility.
“We didn’t take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake. It was my mistake, and I’m sorry. I started Facebook, I run it, and I’m responsible for what happens here,” Zuckerberg writes.
Local cybersecurity expert and distinguished Professor Alan Mantooth says the data collected could be used in a unique way to scam you.
“Lets say that you’re sending messages about your general financial situation. This could allow someone who got ahold of those kinds of messages to scam you or how to take advantage of you — knowing that you’re in a particular situation.”
