Deadly Drunken Crash Results in Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — A deadly drunken crash from September 2017 has resulted in a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed against JJ’s Grill and Fash Lane Entertainment, both of Benton County.

Court records show the lawsuit was filed on Tuesday by the estate of William Dudzienski, who was killed in a Rogers crash. Mitchell C. Ramsey, 23, of Centerton was arrested in connection with the crash, and he faces charges of negligent homicide, reckless driving and more, authorities said. Ramsey is also named in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit states on September 28, 2017, Ramsey went to Fast Lane Entertainment in Lowell at 10:30 a.m. where he drank two shots of an unspecified alcohol, a mixed-drink and “numerous” glasses of beer over the span of several hours.

“During his drinking and gaming at Fast Lane Entertainment, Ramsey became clearly intoxicated but was still sold more beer despite his intoxication,” the lawsuit states.

Later, Ramsey went to JJ’s Grill in Rogers where he had two shots and another mixed drink, according to court documents.

After leaving JJ’s Grill, Ramsey crashed into Dudzienski’s truck, the lawsuit states. Dudzienski died after the crash, and Ramsey was found to have a blood alcohol content of .201, police said. He was driving on a suspended license.

Court documents state under Arkansas law, it’s illegal for a business to sell alcohol to a person the seller knows or reasonably should know is clearly intoxicated.

The lawsuit states both JJ’s Grill and Fast Lane Entertainment sold alcohol to Ramsey, even though he was “clearly and obviously intoxicated” at the time.

Dudzienski’s estate is asking for $30 million from JJ’s Grill, Fast Lane Entertainment and Ramsey, according to court documents.

On Tuesday, Ramsey pleaded not guilty to his charges, court records state. His next hearing is scheduled for February 15. The suspect remains in the Benton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
