Death Penalty Waived for Former Police Chief Charged with Capital Murder

News

Prosecutors announced Thursday that they won’t seek the death penalty against a former police chief charged with capital murder.

48-year-old, Grant Hardin is accused of killing 59-year-old, James Appleton.

Police say Hardin shot Appleton in the head.

Hardin’s attorney has filed two motions, one to suppress evidence taken against Hardin, and one to suppress statements given to police.

A hearing for both motions will happen next month.
